![]() ![]() ![]() Using the Precipitation boundary condition applies the user-specified rainfall to all cells within a mesh, and because the software performs well utilizing detailed terrain even for large nominal mesh cell sizes, this modeling can be performed efficiently for small and large watersheds alike (while not relying on GPU processing, virtually required for efficient rain-on-grid modeling using many other commercially available software). The software currently does not include rainfall losses in a simulation, though this is to be added in the future, so the user should consider whether and how a storm should be applied using excess rainfall. The addition of a “Precipitation” boundary condition for a 2D mesh provides the user with rain-on-grid modeling and mapping capabilities. Terrain profile view (red) behind user-defined cross-section station-elevation data. Not only does this utility allow for targeted resolution enhancement for areas of particular interest, but it also generally maintains computational speed for the entire 2D mesh. Some of the new utilities include greater flexibility in defining and modifying 2D meshes via user-defined break lines, georeferencing lateral structures for simplified, yet enhanced, combined 1D-2D modeling connections, viewing terrain profiles of cross-sections alongside user-defined cross-sections and cutting cross-sections directly from terrain, and a precipitation boundary condition for 2D-only rain-on-grid functionality.īreak lines can be used to improve the resolution of a 2D mesh at pertinent features, while maintaining an overall nominal (and orthogonal) cell size elsewhere. In addition to resolving a number of bugs and issues users have experienced with previous beta versions, the RAS development team has added powerful functionality to the program. Many enhancements to the HEC-RAS software were discussed in the previous FlashFlood newsletter, though there have been numerous improvements since. It is in architecture / cad category and is available to all software users as a free download. The USACE Hydrologic Engineering Center continues to enhance modeling, analysis, and mapping utilities of HEC-RAS 5.0 (Beta), as well as HEC-HMS, with its recent release of version 4.1. HEC-RAS is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. There are lots of functions available on the user interface of this app, such as data entry file management, operations edit, hydraulic analyses, tabulation, and reports.įor purposed users, this is a handy application to its regard, the interface is intuitive, and it supports a variety of features which serve for different reasons. ![]() Not everyone is meant to download this app it is specifically designed for hydraulic engineers, to help them in obtaining good computations in a user-friendly interface. This program works with hydraulic analysis, data storage and management options, sedimentary calculations. The results can be printed or copied to the clipboard. Plus, the app supports to create three-dimensional (3D) cross-sections, rating curves, transporting of sediments, profiles, hydrographs, water quality & temperature modeling, and quite other hydraulic variables. The program comes with a lot of resources to its regard and allows you to come up with multiple projects, save the data of your flow files individually in categories. This is a full-featured application that allows you to create a one-dimensional steady flow of hydraulic calculations, as well as a two-dimensional unsteady flow of the same calculations. ![]()
